Advice for Parents

Facebook : Important Information

For safeguarding purposes, please note that photos containing images of any children other than your own taken at school events are not to  be put on to Facebook or other media sources. Thank you.

We live in a world where the Internet has become an integral part of children’s lives, enabling them to undertake research for school projects, talk to their friends and access information from around the world. Increasing provision of the Internet in and out of schools brings with it the need to ensure that learners are safe.

Internet development is constantly evolving with many websites enabling amazing creativity and interaction between peers.

Having said this, unfortunately there are times when Internet use can have a negative effect on children.  All Staff and Govenors at St Mary Magdalene's R C School are aware of the potential dangers and as such measures to ensure safe usage by all are in place.  It should be noted that Facebook, as an example, states that children should be 13 years of age to register.

This area of our website is dedicated to helping pupils, parents and guardians have a better understanding of the issues around  e-safety and how to manage these risks effectively.
